The Bridegroom is coming!

The Shofars blew. The excitement mounted. The joyous calls of  “The bridegroom is coming!” could be heard throughout the camp. In frenzied anticipation we ran to get ready for the coming wedding.

We had one hour to prepare before we joined the eager bride to await the coming of the bridegroom.

And then he came, in a horse drawn carriage…..

and his bride ran to meet him.

We joined them in the mile long walk to the beautiful lakeside place that they had prepared.

The wedding festivities and dancing that followed the ceremony were as joyous as the wedding itself Smile. The group of dancers was enormous, and as I was one of them I was not able to get any pictures! Ooops…

The joy of the couple is impossible to capture in photos, and the beauty of the moment not complete without being able to experience it. But I hope you enjoyed them non-the-less. Family Week photos are coming soon!

Pre-Wedding Preparations

The morning of Barrett and Devin’s wedding saw a group of ladies from the campground busily preparing. What, you ask, were we preparing? Well, they had a bride, a groom, and guests already. But what is the other essential element to a wedding? That’s right! Food. And lots of it.
So we joined together on that beautiful April morning to prepare for a wedding, and of course what gathering is without fun?

Devin’s special request was macaroni and cheese.
After everything was prepared it was a matter of waiting, and then it happened……

Florida Farmer’s Market

A couple weeks ago we did a general tour of the Florida Farmer’s Markets. We were on a mission, a mission of discovery! Discovering the best place to sell our sewing projects. We were able to visit many markets, and I was able to snap some pictures from the Orlando Farmer’s Market.

Arriaval info, updates, etc.

Wow. That's all I can say. The past month has been so full, and, well, a bit crazy! I want to tell you the whole story so sit back and relax......
Approximately three weeks ago (sorry, I don't remember the exact date) on a Monday we loaded the Uhaul. The weather was, well, horrible. It was super muddy, cold, and drizzling. Despite all of that we got the truck loaded by the afternoon, ate dinner, and crashed on air mattresses set up in the living room. Even though we were all exhausted , and I don't know if it was the echoing effect that an empty house makes, or the thought that we had to get up soon, but none of us slept a wink that night! Of course, it also could have been the fact that the mattresses had.... issues. Anyway, we rose at 5:00am, cleaned up a bit, and put some last minute things in the car. We had wanted to leave at 5:40 but one of our cats decided that she wasnt going to show up! We waited and waited and finally 10 minutes later we pulled out. Everything fit in, or on (the vaccum was duck taped to the back) the truck, which still amazes me! The trip was pretty uneventfull. Well, there was of course the tire that blew out on the Uhaul, but that didnt cause us too much of a delay :-) We arrived in Florida at our new home, safe and sound.
We were very blessed to have friends of ours come the next day to help us unload the truck and bring dinner.... It was kind of crazy, especially when there was not anymore room to put things, but we got it done! Ever since then we have been working on setting things up, unloading boxes, and getting to know the area. Things are very steadily coming along and we have almost all of the boxes unpacked! Moving from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom condo has had its challenged, but everything is working out and we are so glad to be here!

These are some chocolate cover strawberries we made to bring over to a friends house for dinner. They were a big hit:-) One of my dad's friends that was there has four year old twin girls that are so funny! Delany and I were playing hide-and-go-seek with them: "Ok, you hide there, and you hide there, and we will come find you!". Haha. We have been named "Her" and "The other girl".

I love making Challah bread for Shabbat. And this past Shabbat I got to try my hand at the six braid loaf that I could never master. Not bad for a first try, eh?

Delany and I in front of the condo!

Did I mention we live on a golf course? Here is the amazing view off our back porch! It is so nice and peacfull to sit out back there......

The cats  love it out back:-) We left NC with five cats, but we only have two now. We arent really sure what happened, they just got scared and ran off I guess!
That about sums up the past 3 weeks. We are now preparing to leave for Family Week/Passover in less than two weeks!
Until next time......

Tammy's 14th Birthday

After reading various blog posts and getting to know us better, you have probably realized something about us.
We are very last minute people.
Its not that we want it to be that way, somehow it just happens! As some of you know, my birthday is the 20th of December, and that this year it was on a Tuesday.......... The very Thursday before we decided that we were going to make a trip up to Virginia! We are really big into History, and we had wanted to go up to some of the Historical sites for quite some time. So we packed everything up and left 2 days later (the Sunday before my birthday). We were so incredibly excited to be able to go to Williamsburg, Jamestown, Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home), and to see our best friends the Aydlottes! You may remember my first post "Visit to Virginia" . There are just too many pictures to share them all (over 300 between my sister and I), so I will just show my favorites!
First up are pictures from Jamestown. We left Sunday morning and arrived in Jamestown in the afternoon and had a couple hours to see it and then spend the night in a hotel....

On the way to Jamestown we were able to take a ferry across the James river.
Delany and I on the ferry.

Looking out over the James river from the ferry.

The church that was in the Jamestown fort.
One of the three replica ships that we were able to board. These were the ships that the original settlers of Jamestown came over on. The Godspeed, Susan Constant, and the Discovery.

Tammy and Delany by the statue of Pocahontas. :-)

The next day we spent the entire time at Williamsburg, which was so great! Another thing that was cool is that there have been many movies filmed here......

The Governor's Palace in Williamsburg.

The walls in the Foyer of the palace were paneled in black walnut and decorated with swords and guns...

The courthouse.

The Magazine where muskets, pistols, gunpowder and other supplies were kept.

The Capitol building

The Gaol (jail)

After spending a wonderful day at Williamsburg,  we were exhausted. We spent another night in a hotel and then the next morning we drove to Monticello! There was a really good restaurant at Monticello called Michie's Tavern that was so good.... amazing actually! If you ever go you will definitely have to visit it :-)

Here it is, the beautiful Monticello! The whole time that Thomas Jefferson lived here it was never finished, he kept making changes and rebuilding it! It was amazing seeing it :-)

After seeing Monticello (and an accidental detour) we drove to the Aydlottes house and arrived just as night fell. We spent two nights with them and were able to celebrate the first 2 days of Hanukkah with them (and, of course, my birthday).

Ellie, Delany, and Tirzah watching a movie.

Birthday decorations that I was surprised with the next morning. Thanks Anna!

Lauren lighting Hanukkah candles.

As often happens, we got so caught up in the excitement of seeing each other that we forgot to take pictures until the very last minute! Ooops. Well, we had a wonderful trip and were so excited to be able to take it! Stay tuned for bread baking pictures......
