 The longest place name in Ireland is Muckanaghederdauhaulia, in County Galway.

There is a village in Kerry called Inch and on a road sign outside the village there is this “Inch 1 Mile”.



Most of the Irish family names start with 'Mac' or 'O'...", which literally means 'son of ...' and 'grandson of ...' respectively in Gaelic.

Titanic, the Unsinkable ship, which sunk in its maiden voyage, was made in Ireland.

Ireland is slightly larger than the state of West Virginia. However, in Ireland, impoverished mountain folk are known as “hillrileys”.
